This strip heralded the start of a new school year, and tried to start things off with a bang. It failed.

For the record, no complaints were ever really received in response to Puck’s portrayal of women. This was published at a point of heightened feminist sensibilities, though (in the late nineties), and so I thought it would make a funny joke. Looking back on the whole Puck series, I think it was largely quite respectful of women. It had a number of female fans; girls seemed to like it. The humour was always very character-based, and I think that nullified any kind of possible objectification.

But hey, I’m a guy, so who am I to judge?
