This one went down in history as the notorious ‘thong one,’ and thus earned a certain level of infamy on campus. For a whole year after this strip ran, the new head editor would always make a point of asking me “Any thongs in this one?” before accepting my weekly submissions. She would also make a show of being disappointed when my answer was ‘no.’ I’m fairly certain she was mocking me.
The joke is rather odd in this one, now that I think about it, but really, who cares about the joke? According to popular opinion, it was all about the thong. Maybe it was.
Panel 3 of 5 – Delightful !
I’m not sure Puck ever made THAT face again.
Maybe it is time….
The proper phrase is “Itsy bitsay, tenie venie. yellow polka do bikini”.
You gotta get thes things straight 😉
I’ve always had difficulty with spelling.
I’m like Puck. I sunburn in t-shirts on overcast days. There were reasons I always wore heavy coats year round.
Aha, a glimpse into Phloebles’ anatomy. I note that her tail seems an extension of her coccyx. Good to know.
@Susan
Interesting.
No “hole”.
This is back when things got a little more risque.
@EG
Yeah Baby !
I actually think the tail is generally lower now when I draw her – or the angle is different. Here the tail looks kind of like it’s glued to the back of the sacrum. Now I try to draw it more so that the tail is extending out at a downward angle from the lower part of the sacrum – you know, as a tail actually would if our tail hadn’t turned into the coccyx.
EG has gone totally “Susan”
She is persuasive. I wonder if her major was marketing or electrical engineering. That stuff’s half-magic anyway.
She was an English major. I mean, she’s from Shakespeare. So it’s like a German taking introductory German. Easy credit?
I remember introductery German. Not so much, but I was deeply antious and overworked.
But I meant Phoebe. Look at what she got Puck to do. The poor thing must be sweltering! And still needs lotion.
Phoebe’s major was never established. Probably something to do with feather boas.
Fair point. Electrical engineering strikes me as funny, but only FOR me, especially if she found {removed for spoilers] a more viable job option.
Does she have an arm watch in lieu of a wrist watch?
Arm watch. Back when people actually wore watches.
I’m not a redhead, but I burn in the sun pretty easily. I call this condition “Irish skin.” 😉
Fun with Irish skin! Sun not invited!
